Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome
  • Overview of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBD) is a term to describe the chronic immune and inflammatory response of the gastrointestinal tract. IBD is caused when your immune system mistakes food for bacteria or foreign substances causing white blood cells to travel to the intestines. This process causes chronic inflammation that can get worse with time. Those with IBD may experience diarrhea, cramping pain, fatigue, and loss of appetite. If you are experiencing IBD symptoms, contact your physician or make an appointment at the Student Health Services here.
